Lizzie Marvelly and Jo Raj have received funding to produce a web series on sexuality education.
The web series is aimed at young people age 13 to 18. Its aim is to provide young people with reputable, evidence-based information on topics such as consent, sexuality and healthy relationships.
The project received $164,554 from NZ On Air to develop the 12 part mini web series, The Real Sex Talk.
Lizzie Marvelly said they are working with Family Planning, Rape Prevention Education and Rainbow Youth. Stuff reported that Jo Raj, co-producer of the web series, said:
"Different schools can choose to omit things based on whether it be religious beliefs or ethical decisions that the school might decide as an individual. We thought we would create something free and online for teenagers to watch and look at."
Jo Raj said they are aiming to have the web series online by March 2018.

Thursdays in Black Aotearoa New Zealand recently published a report, In Our Own Words: Student experiences of sexual violence (2017) about students' experiences of sexual violence prior to and while enrolled in tertiary education. The report included students' views on the sexuality education they had received.
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) recently provided $1.4 million for a three year partnership with the New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations (NZUSA) to address sexual violence prevention in tertiary education settings.
