Coroner implies Chris Kahui responsible for twins' death

A coroner has found that the brain injuries which caused the Kahui twins' deaths occured while they were in the "sole custody, care and control" of Chris Kahui. He dismissed the suggestion made at his trial that the twins could have been killed by their mother, Macsyna King.

The findings of the inquest were released publicly yesterday after Chris Kahui dropped a legal challenge to force alterations.

3 month old twins Chris and Cru Kahui died as a result of traumatic brain injuries in June 2006. Chris Kahui was found not guilty of their murder in the Auckland High Court in May 2008.

The coroner's role includes making recommendations or comments that may reduce the risk of future deaths in similar circumstances. These are set out in paragraph 228.
