Sonny Ngatai (he/him), Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Rangiwewehi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, Kaihautū is a Director at ATA, an indigenous social media agency that was born out of recognition that Māori approaches can drive real behaviour change. Sonny will be sharing his experience of preventing sexual violence as a communications expert leading the ‘This is Aotearoa – Ko Aotearoa Tenei’ kaupapa.
‘This is Aotearoa – Ko Aotearoa Tenei’ evolved from the Aotearoa Humanity Project. It is a kaupapa dedicated to promoting community wellbeing through storytelling. Each story offers a glimpse into the lives of New Zealanders, uniting those who call Aotearoa home. By telling these stories, it aims to help to shape a vision of Aotearoa where the whakapapa of tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau is protected, and where everyone can feel safe and included, and thrive. It promotes the idea that, together, we can all play a part in shaping the future we want for our tamariki, children and mokopuna.
ACC ‘Learning Over Lunch’ is facilitated by Dr Hala Nasr (she/her), Prevention Workforce Lead, ACC.
