The training builds understanding of how children experience family violence, coercive control and entrapment drawing on emerging research and practice in this field, alongside a child rights perspective under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The training deepens understanding of social entrapment, looking at social and systemic inequities and at children’s experience of the Family Court in the context of family violence. The training includes recognising and honouring children’s resistance, the importance of language, and responding to children experiencing violence to promote safety and wellbeing.
