The New Zealand White Ribbon Campaign has released it's September Newsletter.

White Ribbon is a campaign led by men who condemn violence against women and take action. It is part of a global campaign committed to ending violence against women which originated in Canada following the brutal mass murder of 14 young female students at the University of Montreal.

In 1991, two years after the massacre a small group of Canadian men responded by launching the White Ribbon Campaign. This was a campaign where men spoke to other men in an effort to evoke a personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls. Their agreement was symbolized by the wearing of a simple white ribbon.

The New Zealand version of this initiative is led by the Families Commission in collaboration with a wide range of community and government partners.
