The Backbone Collective is surveying women who have experienced family violence about what longer term support and services they and their children need to help them recover and rebuild their lives.

The online survey is open now and closes on 1 December 2019.

The Backbone Collective has been contracted by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to do this work.

This survey is one piece of work MSD is undertaking or commissioning to gather whānau voices to help in the design of long-term healing and recovery services for people affected by family violence. You can find out more about this work on the MSD website.

Women do not need to have used services in the past in order to take part.

Women also do not need to have had involvement with the Family Court.

The Backbone Collective is a national coalition of survivors of violence against women in Aotearoa New Zealand. It examines the system that responds to women and children escaping abuse through the eyes of the women themselves, and works to use these experiences to encourage those in authority to make the system safer and more effective.
