Nominations open for community researcher awards

National organisation Community Research is calling for nominations for their Te Auaha Pitomata New and Emerging Community Researcher Awards for 2019.

The deadline to nominate yourself or another person is 30 September 2019.

The awards are designed to encourage and acknowledge community research, and support the capability of the sector.

The awards recognise research by early career researchers based in Aotearoa New Zealand. For the awards criteria, an early career researcher is someone in their first eight years of community research or evaluation-related employment, study, community or voluntary work. There is no age limit.

There are four categories for the awards:

1. Tangata Whenua or whānau ora community researcher (Māori researchers only)
2. Ethnic and migrant community researcher (Ethnic or migrant researcher only)
3. Pasifika community researcher (Pasifika researcher only)
4. Community researcher/evaluator

Winning researchers receive a small cash prize and if needed travel assistance to present on their research at a seminar on 31 October 2019.

Community Research is a national non-government organisation that develops research capability in the Tangata Whenua, Community and Voluntary sector. The organisation gathers and shares research and research tools to support the sector in their mahi.
