The Ministry of Social Development's (MSD) latest two email updates for family and sexual violence service providers cover a number of areas of work.
The 24 September 2018 update announces a new project looking at ways to strengthen the support for the sexual violence sector at a national level. An independent sector working group will be set up to define what support the sector requires and to design the ideal ways this could be provided. The working group will be set up through an ‘Opportunity for Engagement’ process to ensure wide representation from existing sector groups, NGOs, service providers and interested parties. Further detail is available in the update. The process to select representatives is open now with responses due by Sunday 7 October 2018. This work is being led by MSD and the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
The 17 September 2018 update includes:
- Work continues to develop a model for funding family violence services
- Findings from provider feedback and survey identify gap in sexual violence post-crisis care
- New Māori name for Safe to talk helpline - Kōrero mai, ka ora
- Next steps in service evaluation is focused on client pathway.
