The Family Violence Taskforce For Action on Violence Within Families have released their on-going programme of action.

The new Programme of Action outlines four principles for the work of the Taskforce – sustained collaboration; a focus on those things that make the biggest difference; community-driven leadership; and learning as we go.

The report provides an update on what was completed from the 2006 Programme of Action, and outlines six work areas for 2007/2008 and beyond:

• Providing Leadership
• Understanding and developing good practice
• Action on Changing Attitudes and Behaviours
• Prevention and Early Intervention
• Action on Ensuring Safety and Accountability
• Action on Effective Support Services

The Taskforce was established in 2005 to advise Ministers on ways that responses to family violence can be improved. Chief Executives from relevant government agencies, the Chief Family and District Court Judges, the Families and Children’s Commissioners, and five NGO Chief Executives make up the Taskforce.
