The Ministry of Justice is seeking nominations for suitable people to become members of the Domestic Violence Programme Approval Panel.

The role of the Panel is to consider applications from persons and organisations who wish to provide programmes in accordance with the Domestic Violence Act and Domestic Violence (Programmes) Regulations 1996.

The panel may have a maximum of ten members, whose collective ethic compositions reflects, so far as is practicable, the likely ethnic composition of the persons and groups who participate in programmes including:
One member who is an employee or representative of the Ministry of Justice and who is chairperson of the panel
Up to nine other members who have knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence
At least two members who have skills or experience in working with children
At least two members who have skills or experience in relation to adult victims of domestic violence
At least two members who have skills or experience in relation to persons who use domestic violence
The panel’s terms will be for three years, beginning on 1 August 2008, and ending on 31 July 2011.

Panel members must have:
Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence
Knowledge and understanding of the design and delivery of domestic violence programmes
Knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Maori , including Maori values and concepts, and
A sensitivity to the values and beliefs of Pacific and other cultures as applicable to programme delivery
Nominations close at 5pm Friday May 2, 2008.
