Whānau Ora commissioning agencies are hosting events to bring together service providers.

Pasifika Whānau Ora Conference 2017

Pasifika Futures is hosting their second annual Whānau Ora conference, From Work to Wonder. It will run 31 July-1 August in Wellington. The conference will focus on the previous three years of their Whānau Ora commissioning work, highlight new ways of working and reflect on future efforts.

Debbie Sorensen, Pasifika Futures Chief Executive said “All our partners will be under one roof to share with us their experiences with Whānau Ora, their plans, and talk about the aspirations and successes of families they work with. It will be a significant two-day conference.”

South Island Whānau Ora symposium

Te Putahitanga o Te Waipounamu hosted a Whānau Ora symposium in Christchurch 21-23 June 2017. Te Putahitanga is the Whānau Ora commissioning for the South Island. The symposium brought together groups funded by Te Putahitanga to celebrate Māori success.

Te Pūtahitanga pouarahi/chief executive Helen Leahy said “In commissioning Whānau Ora we do not provide a particular service or programme; we are stewards of an approach which seeks to empower whānau to identify and meet their own needs. The approach is premised upon building whānau capability to independently address and manage their own lives, in a word, to be ‘self-determining.’" Listen to an interview with Helen Leahy.

Te Pou Matakana, the North Island commissioning agency, hosted a conference in 2016.
