Government Announces New Funding to Critical Social Services

The Minister of Social Development Paula Bennett today announced that the Government will establish a fund to support critical social services during the recession.

The sum of $40 million dollars will be made available during the first year to support community and voluntary sector organisations. The fund is expected to operate for two years.

Applicants to the Community Response Fund will have to provide critical services to families, children, young and older people and meet a range of criteria. Regional panels with community representation will approve applications.
