Pasefika Proud's The Project showcased on Tangata Pasifika

The Ministry of Social Development's Pasefika Proud campaign, which aims to change attitudes and behaviour around family violence in Pacific communities, was showcased on the TVNZ programme Tangata Pasifika on 21 November 2013.

The episode explored the experiences of a Pasefika family dealing with family violence and their work with the Pacific Islands Safety and Prevention Project (The Project). The Project supports Pasefika families to deal with family violence issues. This includes a 15 week men's living without violence programme, which challenges men's thinking and behaviour and asks them to consider the question "Who am I" as a father, brother, husband and a member of the community.

Pasefika Proud uses a strength-based approach to highlight the positive aspects of Pasefika culture to build strong families able to address the issue of family violence. For more information on Pasefika Proud, or where to find services, call 0800 456 450.
