The planned Multi Agency Centre for victims of child abuse and adult sexual assault has opened in Counties Manakau.

The centre is a collaborative project between Police, Child, Youth and Family and the Counties Manakau District Health Board.

The centre will investigate child abuse and sexual assault and will assess and co-ordinate the need for intervention with the families of these victims. It will allow one-stop access to specialised medical, forensic and psychological services, and enable investigations to be more easily co-ordinated and carried out. The centre will also connect these families with community based services for ongoing support.

Press Release from Minister for Police, Judith Collins concerning the Centre is available at: http://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/new+centre+provides+support+abuse+vic...
