A new report on violence against women in New Zealand has been released. "Violence Against Women in Aotearoa New Zealand: the case for an integrated plan of action" employs a human rights framework to look at the gender-based violence and the issues New Zealand has to address. The report calls for an integrated plan of action to address all forms of violence against women together. The authors say that an integrated plan of action is needed, linking sexual violence, exploitation in the sex industry, sexual harassment, stranger murders of women, exploitation of migrant women in marriage and not just focusing on family violence, so that New Zealand can meet its international human rights obligations and make this country a safe place for women.
