In Australia the National Rural Women’s Coalition (NRWC) is leading the Community Leadership in Primary Violence Prevention project.
The NRWC and the Australian Violence Women Alliance (AWAVA) are working with the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research to develop a toolkit and guide to support women to implement the Australian government’s National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children. The resources will focus on preventing violence before it occurs by working to change underlying cause.
Social service providers are being urged to contribute case studies or examples of primary violence prevention activities that would particularly suit the remote or rural context .
The resources are due to be launched in Broken Hill in rural New South Wales in June 2012.
