A collaborative pilot programme focusing on increasing awareness of family violence and dating violence for students has concluded successfully at Onslow College in Wellington. The pilot programme involved 250 year 12 students working with Onslow College staff, Wellington police, Ministry of Social Development and the Health Teachers Association. The programme included sessions comparing healthy and unhealthy relationships, a parent evening at which Leslie Elliot, the mother of domestic violence murder victim Sophie Elliot spoke, and a session coordinated by Police with information on the 12 red flags - a police list of indicators of a high risk family violence situation.
