Shine and Presbyterian Support Northern (PSN) have announced that Shine with merge with PSN on 1 July 2016.

Shine is a charitable trust based in Auckland which provides a range of services to adult and child domestic abuse victims and perpetrators, as well as training for professionals.

PSN provides a range of social and health services to families in the Upper North Island (from Taupo to Whangarei). PSN is part of Presbyterian Support New Zealand (PSNZ) which provides a national presence for the service delivery work of seven autonomous Presbyterian Support organisations that together cover all of New Zealand.

Shine will deliver its current services as a new service division of PSN, alongside existing service areas Family Works and Enliven. Shine will keep its name, website and current office base.

Announcing the merger, Shine said,

"We have recognised that the environment in which we are operating is undergoing significant change and that we need to adapt to ensure Shine’s essential services and impact on the problem of domestic abuse is broadened. One of our key strategic objectives coming out of this process was to establish and strengthen strategic alliances to have a greater impact at a national level."

Shine and PSN have had a formal partnership since 2011.
