Online resource centre supports identification and integration of evidence-based practice

The US National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) has created an online resource center on identifying and integrating evidence-based practice in domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Evidence Project provides researchers, domestic violence programmes, coalitions and other organisations with resources to review practices against evidence in order to provide more effective services for victim/survivors and their families.

The Project highlights both controlled research studies and programmes and practices which are making a difference in community settings. Beginning in 2012, the Project seeks to address four focus areas, collating related information and tools. These areas are:

• Key Services to Adult Victims (2012): This area houses emergent and available empiricial evidence to inform decision-making supporting survivors and their children. Information including a theory of change, conceptual framework and evaluation tools are structured within three framing questions: Why do we do what we do? How do we know we are making a difference? What are we learning?
• Children's Services (2013): This area refers to the Futures Without Violence's new website Promising Futures: Best Practices for Serving Children, Youth, and Parents Experiencing Domestic Violence, which is designed to help organisations effectively support mothers and children experiencing domestic violence.
• Prevention and Batterers' Intervention Programmes (coming in 2014): Comprehensive evidence reviews and responsive programmes and practices profiles are planned to be included in 2014.

The Project also includes Evaluation Tools to help advocates understand different types of evidence and practical considerations and strategies for approaching programme evaluation. A number of Publications by the NRCDV associated with the Project are also listed for easy access.
