Over the last six months, the Auckland Humanity Project has been collecting and sharing stories from people in the community.

Starting Monday 4 September, the project has kicked off an 8 Weeks of Humanity campaign. Through social media, they will share some of the ideas they've collected about understanding and growing humanity. The campaign will have a different focus each week, with the first week focused on random acts of kindness.

The Auckland Humanity Project launched in March 2017. The project began with a small group of Aucklanders who wanted to "rediscover humanity." Each month they ask Aucklanders a question. Past questions have included:

  • What have you learned from spending time with a child?

  • When was the last time you felt proud?

  • What would you say to your 11 year old self?

They share the responses and stories from the community through social media. Follow their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages or share your own story on their website.

The collective has also produced a Humanity Toolkit with links, resources, actions and case studies.

The project is supported by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
