The symposium presents the findings of a three year, Marsden-funded project awarded to Professor Jan Jordan in 2015. The project is titled ‘Rape, Silencing and Objectification’ and is a critical examination of socio-cultural barriers to rape reform.
This symposium will be of interest to NGOs, policymakers, academics, practitioners and the general public. Presentations will cover a diverse array of topics, including:
- Police responses to rape complaints
- Media coverage of rape
- Objectification in the media
- Changes and trends in contemporary pornography.
