Violence within families or whanau seriously impacts the health and well being of all involved. Experiencing violence can be disabling, while the use of violence is common against disabled people.
These workshops bring together disability, sexual and domestic violence and health care sectors to develop a shared community understanding and actions to improve care for those impacted by violence.
To build upon understanding throughout the workshops the organisers encourage organisations to register one person who is committed to attending both workshops.
Workshop One: Exploring issues of violence against disabled people/the disabling effects of violence
- Register for 4 September
Workshop Two: Identifying key issues and developing joint community actions
- Register for 18 September 18
Imagine Better, the Working Together More fund, the School of Population Health, University of Auckland and The Personal Advocacy and Safeguarding Adults Trust have collaborated in an approach to improving services and supports for people affected by violence and disability to provide these two half day workshops in the Bay of Plenty.
