Leitner Centre for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School has awarded Amokura their annual Alumni Human Rights Prize. The Human Rights prize was established to honour an organisation the Center has worked with during their annual human rights fact finding mission. Amokura coordinated the Tai Tokerau section of the freedom from domestic violence fact finding mission in 2008, ensuring participation from iwi and Maori providers and practitioners in their region. The award includes an all expenses paid trip to New York for Di Grennell and Ani Pitman to accept the award on behalf of Amokura and to attend Fordham Law School’s 13th Annual Domestic Violence Conference. There will be the opportunity to address the conference and meet with other violence prevention groups.
